PSH Community Medical Oncology - Standards of Care Physician Lead
The patient is the center of our medical practice here at AndrewsPatel Hematology/Oncology.
A patient with the diagnosis of a cancer or blood disorder faces many things - often at once. Initially there is concern and sometimes fear. There are challenges, many questions, some disappointments, and fortunately many successful outcomes. The family and friends of the patient have their own concerns and there is sometimes a sense of helplessness.
It is the relationship with the patient which is so rewarding for those of us in the oncology community. Being part of the team to help the patient understand the diagnosis, the plan, and the prognosis is a privilege. It is truly a journey that we take together. While we work hard to give good care, we are often inspired by and amazed at the strength and dignity we witness.
Dr. Andrews and Dr. Patel retired recently after several years of leadership. But they left behind a strong directive: whenever we are faced with a difficult decision, the answer is always found by asking "What is best for the patient?"
